Mungyodance, also known as MGD, is a music game series created and released by VULPvibe Entertainment. The game's engine is heavily based on StepMania, another free dance game simulation. The game is played on a dance pad with four arrow panels in a cross formation: left, right, up, and down. These panels are pressed using the player's feet, in response to arrows that appear on the screen in front of the player. A traditional computer keyboard is also acceptable. The arrows are synchronized to the general rhythm or beat of a chosen song, and success is dependent on the player's ability to time and position their steps accordingly. Normally, the arrows move in an upward fashion to the top of the screen, where they overlap with "Target Zone" arrows. It is in this zone where the arrows must be hit.

The Mungyodance series has been praised for its diverse and very nonstandard dancing game music selection, including a large variety of hardcore, gabber, drum and bass, and other underground-style electronic music released by Ren and their aliases.

Mungyodance Exclusives Edit

The following aliases are Mungyodance exclusives, meaning they never had any legitimate releases, except inside the games.

Games Edit

Mungyodance (Beta) Edit

Mungyodance (Beta) is the collective term for prototypes of the original Mungyodance. It was never released, however many graphical parts of it were released onto the internet before the original MGD came out.

Mungyodance Edit

Mungyodance is the first game in the series, released July 30th, 2006. It featured 167 songs, and an overall simpler feel than the two succeeding games. The game itself features a judgement system (Perfect/Excellent/Good/Almost/Bad/Miss), an announcer, and a groove radar. There are up to four difficulties to pick during the selection of a song: Noob, Average, Severe, and Berserk. Berserk is the hardest there is, while Noob is the easiest. Some songs, shown in red on the songwheel, have only Insane level steps, even harder than Berserk. After every two songs cleared, a new song is unlocked.

Mungyodance 2 Edit

Mungyodance 2 is the second game in the series, released May 23, 2007. MGD2 includes nearly all of the songs from MGD, plus 295 new songs. It did not have an announcer, unlike the first MGD. Streaks were renamed to combos, and step judgements were changed to hit and miss. The letter ranking system was replaced by a 1-8 paw system, with 8 paws being no missed notes. Nonstop songs were also added as well. It also added the concept of Modbombs, arrows that change appearance when hit to increase difficulty. The final addition was Extra Mode, a mode of gameplay which allowed the player to choose a song and play it with preprogrammed visual modifications.

Mungyodance 3: The Third Rave Edit

Mungyodance 3: The Third Rave is the third game in the series, released August 23, 2008. It features over 780 songs, both old and new. A life system was added as well as Extra Mode modsets for almost all, if not all of the new songs. Pressing F11 during gameplay reveals a message that reads: "Don't push that! :(".  The function of pressing the button, on a normal Stepmania build, would increase the offset during the song.
